Secret Springs, East Kimberley, Western Australia
Wyndham Palm captures a cluster of fire-scorched palms near Secret Springs, Wyndham, in the East Kimberley, Western Australia.
A hidden freshwater spring set within the rugged northern landscape, Secret Springs offers a striking contrast to the surrounding heat, rock and dust. Cool, still and quietly alive, it is a small sanctuary within one of Australia's most ancient and powerful regions.
During the wet season, lightning struck the valley, scorching and blackening the palms. Their charred forms are rendered in fine detail against a soft, pale background, revealing the delicate textures and sculptural beauty left in the aftermath of fire.
Photographed on location in the Kimberley, each botanical study was created in situ using material found in the surrounding landscape. Objects were returned to where they were found, with nothing removed from the land, in respect for Country and its natural environment.
Please Note
All framed works are supplied with UV acrylic Perspex as standard.
